I think Julia made a good job, she analized the article efficiently. Besides she cited numerous reasons that led to the exceptional year in France in hotel industry. In the end she said that other countries did better and that's why being the first on the list of revenues in tourism could be a challenge for professionals, and the first objective for new year.

Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts Continues Aggressive Growth With New Hotel In Moscow

According to the article http://www.hospitalitynet.org/news/154000527/4030088.html Intercontinental Hotels Group announced the opening of a new hotel. It will be opened in Moscow in 2010. And it is only the beginning as the group is planning to continue gaining the russian market step by step.

To my point of thinking, today Russia is one of the key market and goes together with China and India whose makets could be called emerging. More and more hotel groups are installing in different parts of Russia. The growth in hotels in the country reflects the growth of its overall economy. And developers have to provide something the customer actually wants and can benefit from. That's why Intercontinantal Hotels Group is on the right way. Besides working within a new culture is a great challenge and an exciting experience.

State of Travel in 2007 May Mean Change in Policies and Demand Expected to Remain High
http://www.hospitalitynet.org/news/154000320/4029962.html
written ny Navin Chhuon

In the analisys of the article Navin states that Canada, Mexico and the Carribeans will be affected by new airlines policies, higher fares and changing security rules. But in spite of all those changes people will go on travelling as they used to do. I share the point of view of Navin. She is right by saying that some people will not change their travelling habits, and will stay loyal to their favourite places of vacation. But on the other hand , I think it will make some people to think over the destination, its advantages and disadvantages. Besides , nowadays the question of airline security matters a lot.

Introducing an innovative hotel concept: Qbic

The article http://www.hospitalitynet.org/news/154000395/4029394.html introduces a new concept of a hotel known as Qbic hotel. It focuses on a new generation of travellers who wants to escape from the routine of life. It is a new hotel for modern budget conscious guests who want functionality and experience at the same time. Not only the design is unique (cube-shaped space) but also the clients pay only for what they use.

To my point of thinking this a very inersting and innovative concept of a hotel. As we know today the clients expect more than simply comfort and convenience, they want to be surprised. And Qbic hotel is on the right way:
  • escape from the noise of the daily life
  • it provides a state-of-the-art-living environment
  • atmosphere that will suit the mood of the moment
  • ecological food and etc.

Comment on the article of Laila Yameogo

In the analysis of the article http://www.hotelmarketing.com/index.php/content/article/061220 Amina talks about the new online system introduced by Hilton that allows the clients to make a virtual tour of the room they want to book. I do agree with Amina that is a fantastic innovation and she is right by saying that it is advantegeous for both the clients and the hotel. Not only the clients can view the design and size of the room but it will help to fidelize the clients who are very demanding nowadays. The clients will have the feeling that the staff of the hotel do care about them and do all possible to satisfy their needs.

Tourism Could Do More To Protect Marine And Coastal Environments

The article under discussion http://www.hospitalitynet.org/news/154000320/4029963.html reveals a very important issue: protection of the marine and coastal environments. The author states that tourism industry should be more concerned about this topic and that the government, tourists, hotel associations, tour operators should work together to protect and conserve marine environment.

I do agree with the author because it is known that in some popular destinations, tha natural attractions of the area as well as the rivers, oceans have been polluted, damaged or destroyed due to overbuilding and irresponsible development. That's why awareness of a destination's environment, its people, and its economy opens up a whole new world of opportunities. Looking at a destination from the different angel allows you to experience new things, learn about the places and people you visit and helps sustain the earth's fragile environments, economies and disappearing cultures.
