Amenities That Stick

The article www.hotelmarketing.com/index.php/content/article/061128 is devoted to the innovative and creative services proposed by the hotels. The author Dave Wilkening gives a lot of examples of new ideas, concepts that the hotel managers use to attract the clients and make them come back.

I found this article very interesting for the hotel business. It goes without saying that today the main objective of any hotel is to provide an outstanding service, be creative. Small things like the pillow menu option, teddy bears, guestroom goldfish play a huge part in fidelizing the clients, make the guests feel that the hotel staff do care of them, do want to make the stay unforgettable. Besides, today travellers expect more than simply comfort and experience. They seek hotels that are different in look and feel. That's why hotels must adapt to the incessantly changing needs, tastes, preferences and fashions in order to remain competitive in the flourishing hotel market.

Cut down on checkout time with Mariott eFolio

The main message of the article
http://www.hotelmarketing.com/index.php/content/article/061117_is to reduce time on checkout thanks to eFolio. This system was introduced by Marriot and had a great success. In fact it gives the possibility to avoid lines on checkout, by e-mailing hotel bills directly to guests within 48 hours.

I think this is a very important issue. From my experience in a hotel, I could say that check out stays one of the most irritating problems for clients, especially when they are hurried up and have to spend 20-30 minutes at the reception. And most of the complaints are about being unsatisfied with the checkout.

That's why, to my point of thinking, introducing this system is really helpful and strategic. It leads to the satisfaction of clients and they feel valued and this is a primary goal in hotel industry.

Web creates new generation of travel writers

The main idea of the article http://observer.guardian.co.uk/travel/story/0,,1945009,00.html is that internet technologies created new forms of publishing. Among the most popular are
  • blogs and podcast
  • POD-Print on demand

Both ways give the possibility to travellers to share their experience not only with the family and friends but also with the readers around the world.

To my point of thinking the article reveals a very interesting topic in travel business. Thanks to new means of communication people can share

  1. different tips and information that will help others to avoid the mistakes that one can do while travelling
  2. to realise yourself as a writer and maybe become famous
  3. to combine hobby (in this case writing ) with travelling

But on the other hand there is a negative point: people prefer to share their thougths with the computer and consequently passive communication is welcomed while human communication stays behind.

U.S business tourism suffers on travel restrictions

The main idea of the article is the decrease in tourism sector in the United States due to the security restrictions. Due to that U.S. are loosing its visitors. Nowadays tourists prefer travelling to Europe, but the late fails to meet international standards.

To my point of thinking, this article reveals a very important aspect. It goes without thinking that tourism plays an enormous role in the economy. It is not only number 1 in creation of new working places but also enhances the quality of education, health care service, trade, transport and entertainment industry. So U.S and Europe should

  • create a business plan
  • promote a positive image of the country
  • follow new trends in global tourism.

These factors will help to attract the maximum of tourists and will make tourism a highly renumerative branch of economy.
